Osteomyelitis is an inflammatory process of bone. It affects not only marrow but also all layers of the bone.

Hematogenous osteomyelitis usually involves children. It affects long tabular pipes: thighbone, shinbone, splint bone and humeral bone. Hematogenous osteomyelitis declares itself by pains and intumescence of the extremity in the place of lesion, by temperature rise and rigors. If the extremity is not treated, it can be deformed and joint range of motions can be decreased.
Posttraumatic osteomyelitis arises in focus of bone and soft tissues distraction when the blood supply is broken. Such foci take place in open bone fractures, when bone fragments get in contact with environment.
Patients with hematogenous and posttraumatic osteomyelitis need timely and specialized medical treatment.
